Detonators are an essential tool for many military, civil and humanitarian applications. They are, however, very sensitive items and so great restrictions are placed on their conditions of storage and transportation.
The Detsafe is one of a family of storage units designed to provide safe handling of detonators. Should a detonator initiate by accident in one of the detsafe's internal moulded chambers, there will be no consequential initiation of detonators in adjoining chambers or any effects outside the Detsafe itself.
The Detsafe is approved by "competent authorities" designated by the United Nations and has a UN Hazard Classification of 1.4S, which means it can be transported together with other explosives and stored to capacity in explosive magazines.
The Detsafe is based on a standard NATO ammunition box, with the body stretched and strengthened. It is fitted with a locking mechanism and contains 8 internal moulded chambers which can hold up to 24 detonators. Standard colour is red.
